Russian Ridge View won the 3rd place in the Artist of the Month competition for August at the Campbell Artists' Guild.

I will have 3 artworks (Daydreaming, Bonding, and Running Free) at the 2008 FALC Juried Fine Art Show. The theme of the show is "Earth Expressions," and I'm glad that my horses will be a part of it.

Reception and Auction to benefit the Sichuan Earthquake Victims will be held on September 12, 7pm to 9pm.

The show will be open September 13-14, 10am to 6pm, at the Community Hall, 10350 Torre Ave., Cupertino, CA. 10% of all sales on September 13-14 will be donated to The Shelter Box Project for the Sichuan Earthquake Victims.

As a member of the Campbell Artists' Guild, I am participating in the Guild's annual show at the Rose Shenson gallery. The gallery is located behind the Triton Museum of Art. The show will be open from September 6 till October 4, Saturday - Sunday, 11:00am - 4:00pm.

The reception will be held on September 21, 1:30pm-3:30pm.

Out of the Dark won the 3rd place in the Artist of the Month competition for August at the Fine Arts League of Cupertino.

I did this piece as a gift to my Mom and Dad. Mom grows many wonderful gladioluses at their summer house, but the yellow ones look most beautiful to me.

This is the first work in a series of small landscapes that I plan to do. All places in the series will be from California parks and preserves.

On June 7 and 8, the Silicon Valley Asian Art Center hosted an art auction to benefit Sichuan Earthquake victims. The auction was organized by Professor Arthur Kao and raised $6990.00. A print of Plum Blossoms in Los Gatos Creek Park was a tiny part of that result. The whole amount will be sent to Tzu Chi Foundation and American Red Cross.

Running Free received the 1st place in the Artist of the Month competition for April at the Fine Arts League of Cupertino and will stay in the Quinlan Community Center near the The Cupertino Room till June 9.

This one was in the works since 2000. I vaguely remember being excited when I just started with it, but then life got in the way with moving and traveling to Russia, and when I've picked the pencils again I hit a creative block. Whichever approach I tried, whichever part of the drawing I chose to work on - nothing felt right. So I would walk away and work on something else, come back, saw that the block was still there, and put the stubborn artwork away again. I am not sure what's changed recently, but "Running Free" was completed with just a few short sessions. Maybe it happened because last time I've left it alone for the longest period ever.

Summer Day in Santa Cruz Mountains won the 3rd place in the Artist of the Month competition for April at the Fine Arts League of Cupertino.

At the Fine Arts League of Cupertino, On the Racetrack I won the 3rd place in the Artist of the Month competition for February.

"Bonding" will be a part of the FALC show "From the Heart" at Main Street Cafe in Los Altos, February 1-29.

There will be an artists' reception on Thurs. Feb. 7, from 5.30 p.m. till 7 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be served and ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place by popular vote will be awarded.
